Welcome, and thank you for stopping by this film page.......
The short film "The Long Walk Home" is a powerful war-influenced vehicle that tells the story of one man's return from the conflict in Afghanistan, traumatized by the pressures of war, the loss of friends, the guilt of conduct, and the terrible abandonment he feels by the society he has served so proudly.
It is a story that has its origins in a factual event and is a statement about the role that society and government has in ensuring that these heroes are not forgotten, discarded, or otherwise left to fend for themselves when they return home broken, bloodied, and terrorized by war. Based upon the real life story of a former British Army soldier who returned from Iraq with only the memories of the twelve men under his command who were lost to 'friendly fire' during the Iraq War in 1991, it is a generalised intepretation of what men of arms endure once the fighting at least has ended.
I am seeking to fulfill what I feel is my obligation to these young men and women who have suffered to ensure my right to democracy and safety are maintained, as an ex-serviceman myself, and want to cast a major shot across the bows of government, the first to wipe their hands clean of responsibility, and try to usher in change.
If you feel strongly that this project is something you can get behind then please pledge whatever you can to help. We are hoping to raise....
£ 50,000
....towards a stunning short film that will travel the world's film festivals stirring emotion, initiating action, and hopefully, making a difference to the lives of soldiers, sailors, and aircrew suffering in comparative silence.
Thank you for reading..................
